There are eight appointable routes in Scenic Byway Hokkaido now. Inhabitants and administration development together various activities using each regional resource. Four candidate routes are in preparation for be appointable routes.

Taisetsu - Furano Scenic Byway which run through plains at the foot and the deart of the mountains of Mt. Taisetsu and the Tokachi-dake mountain range. Beautiful hill and countryside, such like patchwork, and flowers such like lavender make be colorful, the site is used as stages of movie, drama and commercial.
Along Natl. Route 237 is made be colorful by beausitul hill and countryside, and plowering plants including lavender. You can enjoy dramatic scenes. Superb nature gives scenes and also the blessing of high-quality produce, such as potato, wheat, and so on. A lot of hot spring spring, the environment makes your feeling be better with the passage of time slowly. It is an attractive route which give an impulse to the senses, "sight", "hearing", "smell", "touch" and "taste."

The route includes worldwide tourist spots, such as Kushiro Marsh National Park and Akan National Park. It is compossed of four areas, including Kushiro Marsh area where mainly "Kushiro Marsh", the registerd marsh for the Ramsar Convention.
